TNEB Bill Status Not Updating? Here is What to Do

Panic sets in when you pay your electricity bill via GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm, the money is deducted from your bank, but the TNEB portal still says “Pending” or “Unpaid.”

Before you pay again (don’t do that!), follow this troubleshooting guide.

Why does this happen?

TANGEDCO’s servers sometimes have a “handshake failure” with banking gateways. The money is with the bank, but the TNEB database hasn’t received the “Success” signal yet.

Steps to Fix It

  1. Wait 24-48 Hours: This is the Golden Rule. 90% of transactions reconcile automatically during the nightly server refresh (usually 12:00 AM – 4:00 AM).
  2. Check “Last Pay” Status: Log in to the official TNEB Web Portal (not the app). Go to “Account Summary.” Sometimes the status is updated there even if the dashboard shows pending.
  3. Do Not Pay Twice: If you pay again, getting a refund is a long, manual process involving the Section Office.
  4. Email Support: If the status is still pending after 48 hours, send an email to cgrf@tnebltd.gov.in with your Consumer Number and Transaction Reference ID.

Pro Tip: Always try to pay 3-4 days before the due date to avoid this stress.
